Day 1:

Arrival to Amman on a scheduled flight. We will transfer to our hotel in Amman which will take approximately 30 mins.

Overnight in Amman.

Day 2:

This morning after breakfast we will set off for Madaba, known as the city of the mosaics and famous for its 6th Century mosaic of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. From here we will continue to Mt Nebo which is reputedly the burial place of the prophet Moses. While scholars have long disputed this, what has never been in question is the remarkable view over the valley below. We will then begin our cycle, a fantastic descent to the shores of the Dead Sea. We will follow the shore line on a smooth tarmac road to Suwaima. Here we will have our lunch and then you will have an opportunity to 'float' in the saline waters of the Dead Sea. We will then make our way back to Amman for the night.

Day 3:

Today we have an early start leaving Amman for the desert scenery of the Wadi Rum. It is a fairly long journey that will take approximately 4 hours. From the visitor centre we will start our 2 hour 4x4 jeep ride into the desert. The jeeps will take us to our first resting place where we will ride camels for an hour. After having lunch prepared by local Bedouins we will begin a short acclimatisation walk (around 2 hours) from Disseh village to the Umm el Twaggy camp. Here we will be able to enjoy dinner prepared by our Bedouin hosts followed by a memorable night under the vast starlit sky. At the camp we are provided with a mattress, pillow and blanket but if you wish for extra comfort you may want to take a sleeping bag/liner with you for the night.

Day 4:

We have another early start this morning to make the most

of our day visiting the remarkable site of Petra. For many people Petra is the highlight of their visit to Jordan and today we will have the opportunity to have our own Indiana Jones moment of discovery and adventure as we explore the site. The magnitude of the site is astounding and we will begin your exploration in Little Petra. We will then make our way through the canyon to Moaisra. We will then move on to explore some of the main sites of Petra from the Monastery to the Treasury. After a full day we will overnight in a hotel in Petra.

Day 5:

After breakfast we will drive to, Jordan's largest nature reserve. The area is a system of Wadis and mountains extending from the top of the Jordan Rift Valley to the lowlands of Wadi Araba. The area has been continuously inhabited since the Neolithic period. Ancient copper mines, Roman aqueducts and Byzantine churches remind visitors of the historical significance and importance of the area over hundreds of years of humanity. While here we will explore the area on foot. We will follow the White Dome Trail, a moderate walk that will take us through the incredible canyons of the area for approximately 4 hours. We will then over night at the Rummana Camp within the nature reserve. The camp includes mattresses, pillows and blankets but you may wish to take a sleeping bag liner for the night.

Day 6:

Today we set off for Wadi Bin Hammad. This Wadi is an 18km gorge that crosses Jordan parallel to Wadi Hasa. Here we will be able to enjoy a day of canyoning, swimming and trekking amongst the warm springs and the beautiful natural hanging gardens, palms and ferns that thrive in this lush environment. The walls of the canyon are painted by the natural colours of the minerals in the water and as we make our way down the canyon the walls will draw closer together, joining to create a spectacular overhang. You are likely to spend much of the walk in a shallow stream so you will need to have footwear that you don't mind getting wet and a swimsuit. We will take a picnic lunch with us from Dana to have on our adventure. If the weather is bad or the river water is too high we will extend our stay in Dana and do a hike in the reserve before heading to Shoubak to visit the crusader castle. At the end of our day we will transfer to Amman.

Day 7:

Today we will have time to explore the city of Amman. Amman is a city of diversity, uniting old and new within its parameters. We will set off on a panoramic tour that will take us through the old and new part of the city giving you the opportunity to take in the history of the city and also its modern vibrancy. At the end of our day we will sit down to a traditional feast of falafel, hummus and fuul (fava-bean paste) at Hashem, which claims to be oldest local restaurant in Amman. It is famous for its atmosphere, simple yet traditional Jordanian food, especially the falafels, and its friendly waiters.

Day 8:

Today, you will be transferred to the airport and catch your flight back to your home.
